Solid State Lighting (SSL), unlike conventional lighting o?ers direct electrical to light conversion and hence the highest possible e?ciency. SSL is one of the rapidly emerging technology markets. With ever increasing awareness on energy conservation, concurrent with rapid scienti?c developments, SSL is currently an exploding sector. The Institute for Optical Sciences (IOS) at University of Toronto has started a SSL Research Network (SSLNet) to catalyze Canadian adoptation of SSL.

The network will be devoted to the advancement of Solid State Lighting in Canada, bringing together researchers, industries, end-users and agencies, and foster constant dialogues, knowledge sharing and facilitate collaborative projects between its members.
